Remove this extension piece before installing the new EN-locks.

Before working on the kiosk

Before opening either door, you will need to disable the alarm for your outdoor kiosk by going into the Terminal page in your Appointment Manager.

Next, open the top and rear doors of the kiosk with your unique key. Instructions are linked HERE if you have any questions.

Inside the top of the kiosk:

In the top of the kiosk, turn off power at the main power switch by pressing the blue switch down.

And then switch off the UPS mounted above the main power switch:

Installation Procedure

Section 1: Accessing the Lockerboard

Depending on your kiosk, to access the lockers, you will have to open the inner door with the same unique key, or remove the additional security plate shown below (keep these screws to use later):

Layout of kiosk interior

Every locker has a EN-lock and a Mechanical lock. In the image below, the lockers are numbered from 1 to 10, with the EN-lock (in yellow below), and the Mechanical lock (in green). The lockerboard is mounted to the top (in red circle).

Section 2: Disconnecting the Original Lockerboard

The lockerboard is mounted on a metal mounting plate, which is attached to the cabinet. To remove the lockerboard and mounting plate together, remove the 4 nuts shown in yellow circles below, and save these 4 nuts for use later.

NOTE: Be careful when removing these nuts as they can fall and get lost in the kiosk.

Carefully cut the nearest cable ties, shown with green arrows above, to allow more movement.

Then carefully remove the 4 small screws (in each corner) that hold the lockerboard to the metal mounting plate. Keep the mounting plate and screws nearby as you will need them in the next step. Then you will have this:

Now attach the metal mounting plate to the new lockerboard using the same 4 screws from the previous step. (see previous image for reference on how it should look)

Section 3: Installing the New Lockerboard

With the new and old lockerboards in front of you, facing the same direction, you can start to move wires from the old lockerboard to the new lockerboard.

In the image below, the old board is on top, and the new board is below. At the bottom left, there are 3 connections to move to the corresponding socket in the new board. As shown below, move cable #1 to socket #1, cable #2 to socket #2 and cable #3 to socket #3.

Then, unplug the 2 cables on the left (in blue boxes) and plug into the new lockerboard, ensuring a solid connection.

Section 4: EN-Lock Replacement Process

Complete the following steps for all 10 EN-locks:

  1. Unscrew the three mounting screws from each EN-lock. There are 3 Philips bolts holding the locker in place, using a ratchet wrench or similar tool, unscrew them. (The bolts may require a little shaking to yield after unscrewing, you can use flat screwdriver to lift them)

NOTE: save the bolts to re-use when attaching the replacement EN-locks

  2. Disconnect the cable going into the EN-lock as shown, and remove the old EN-lock unit. If the EN-lock cable is held in place with cable ties, cut these to allow removal of the old EN-lock.

Installing New EN-Locks

  1. Store the old EN-lock in return packaging for shipment to Tjekvik

  2. Prepare the new EN-lock

    • Remove from packaging

    • Important: Insert the three mounting screws into the EN-lock BEFORE placing the new EN-lock into position.

  3. Position the new EN-lock into place.

NOTE: If you cannot place an EN-lock into position, check that that locker door is not open (on the front of the kiosk). If it is open, close it and you will be able to place the new EN-lock in its position.

  4. Secure each EN-lock with the three mounting screws.

Section 5: Cable Management and Connection

Lockerboard Connection Layout

  • Mechanical locks: Connected to inner row on lockerboard (red boxes below)

  • EN-lock cables: Connected to outer row on lockerboard (yellow boxes below)

  • Both lock types connect to corresponding numbered outputs and the board is numbered OUT1, OUT2, etc.

  • All locker numbers 1 - 10 are shown here.

Cable Transfer Process

Mechanical lock cables (white, yellow, black, red): the existing cables are transferred to the new board

Doing one at a time, unplug from the old lockerboard and connect the same cable to the corresponding position on new lockerboard (the red squares).

For example, #5 and #6 shown here:

Old Lockerboard:

  • After transferring all of the Mechanical lock cables, disconnect all grey cables from the lockerboard (yellow boxes below)

  • When the grey cables are removed, the old lockerboard should be completely disconnected now and can be placed in the red disposal bag.

  • To remove the detached grey wires from the kiosk later, carefully cut any cable ties holding these cables until the grey cables can be removed.

EN-Lock Cable installation (red, red, white, yellow, green)

The new EN lock cables are coloured red/red/white/yellow/green. One end has a single plug, and the other end has 2 plugs. The centre image below shows both ends of this cable. The end with the single plug (red square below) will go into the lockerboard, and the other end has 2 plugs (yellow square) that go into the 2 sockets coming from the new EN-lock:

Working one locker at a time, plug in the single end to the lockerboard, starting at #1 (as shown above), then connect the 2 plugs at the end of that cable to EN-lock #1.

NOTE: Before connecting both ends, make sure all cables are going behind the two horizontal bars that go across the cabinet (yellow boxes below). Cables that are in front of these bars could get damaged when the kiosk is closed.

After connecting the new EN-lock cable from the lockerboard socket #1 to EN-lock #1, connect #2 at both ends. Carry on connecting each cable, one at a time, to the board and the corresponding EN-lock. The image below shows you each slot on the board and the location of the corresponding EN-lock:

Section 6: System Testing and Final Assembly

  1. Power on the kiosk system

  2. Execute comprehensive locker test

    • Test all 10 lockers for proper opening function, using Appointment Manager to open them one at a time. If any locker does not open, or opens the incorrect locker, check the cable is correctly connected.

    • If all lockers opened correctly, do a final test using the Open All Lockers Function. Instructions are HERE.

    • If you have any problems with these tests, please contact Tjekvik Support on [email protected]

  3. Install new lockerboard: If testing lockers was successful, the lockerboard can be mounted to the inside-top of the cabinet using the same nuts that were removed when you detached the old lockerboard.

  4. Cable management

    • Secure all cables with the cable ties provided

    • Ensure all cables are not too close to the lock mechanisms. Loose cables could interfere with operation.

    • Use metal cable management brackets mounted on lockers

    • Then use cable ties provided to group cables into neat bunches, combining with existing cable bunches where possible.

⚠️ CRITICAL: If your kiosk has an inner door, make sure this can open and close without any problems from the cables. If your kiosk has the inner panel that you removed, ensure no cables interfere with the four backplate mounting screws.

    • Then close and secure all access panels.

Section 7: Return and Disposal Procedure

  1. Package components for return

    • Place all old EN-locks in provided packaging

    • Maintain packaging integrity for shipping

  2. Dispose of non-returnable items

    • Place old lockerboard in red disposal bag

    • Dispose of old cables in accordance with environmental regulations

  3. Obtain return shipping

Optional Installation: Front Door Adjustment

If the front door (containing the touchscreen) requires excessive force to open, this can be fixed quickly and easily:

  • Remove the 4 nuts to take the lock off the front door.

  • Place 4 of the provided washers onto the lock mounting points.

  • Then reattach the lock using the same nuts as before. Test the door by locking and unlocking. You should not need as much force to open the door now.

Important Notes

  • Spare parts included: One extra cable set for emergency replacement, plus 2 spare washers for the front door adjustment.

  • Technical support: Contact Tjekvik technical support for installation assistance [email protected]
