How to replace a Restart button (Indoor kiosk)

Without removing the Network/Power plate.

Written by Jason Dwight

SAFETY FIRST! ALWAYS TURN YOUR KIOSK OFF BEFORE ANY WORK IS STARTED AND UNPLUG FROM THE WALL.

Remember to disable your alarm in the Dashboard if it is enabled.

  1. Unlock the rear bottom door using the key provided.

  2. Unscrew the 2 screws on the PC and remove the cover to gain access to the inside.

  3. Unplug the black and red power button cable from the board inside the PC.

  4. Unscrew the two nuts from the protective cover (below the PC).

  5. With this removed, reach behind the button and unscrew the back of the restart button. You will probably need a wrench or pliers to grab the nut on the back (see below). When the nut has been removed, you can remove the button, just pull the button toward you and the wires will follow.

  6. Remove the nut from the back of the new button, then push the new button wires through the hole in the plate where the button is going to be mounted. Pass the wires through the nut and then screw the nut on the back of the new button so that it is fixed to the plate.

  7. Plug the wire into the PC board as it was before:

  8. Re-attach the PC cover with the screws.

  9. Re-attach the protective cover back into place with the nuts.

  10. Turn power back on and press the restart button.
